At LiftRite Hire & Sales, we recently assembled a new Kalmar DRG450 Reachstaker, and as the only approved Kalmar dealer in Western Australia, we thought we’d share some information for all the heavy-duty machinery nerds out there (like us).
The Kalmar DRG450 Reachstaker is designed for stacking shipping containers. This beast of a machine will lift 45000kg, and has a maximum lifting height of over 15 metres… meaning it can stack shipping containers 5 high. It weights in unloaded at around 69500kg, with an overall height of 4.7m.
Powered by a Turbo Diesel Volvo engine, the DRG450 produces 265kW, and a massive 1765Nm of torque. The engine has a displacement of 12.78 litres, which is equivalent to over 7 Toyota Corolla engines!
This Reachstaker is also the first Kalmar in Australia with the new SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) System – which regulates weighing of containers before loading on board vessels to comply with new regulations tackling misdecloration of cargo weights.
The Kalmar DRG450 is part of the Kalmar Gloria range of Reachstakers, which holds the current World Record Reachstaker lift at 130 tons – Watch the World Record Video HERE.
Below are some images of the assembly of a Kalmar DRG450 Reachstaker, which left our Canning Vale facility to operate at Western Australia’s north-eastern shipping docks of Karratha.
